This has been a really tough month for the privatization of space exploration. First, a rocket that had supplies to replenish the International Space Station attempted to launch on the Space Craft Rocket’s launch site located on Wallops Island, Virginia (located near–within fifteen miles of the community of Atlantic, Virginia and the Assateague National Seashore and National Wildlife Refuge in Virginia). Second, the Virgin Galactic — V.S.S. Enterprise Space Airplane had some difficulties in some of its navigation flights and crashed in the Mojave Desert north of its runway’s take-off and landing site. This has been a really rough month in the historical timeline of Space Discovery similar to the Space Shuttle difficulties with the Space Shuttle Space Crafts which the first Space Shuttle Space Craft which had difficulties exploded on the Rocket Launch and the second Space Shuttle exploded just prior to the landing and re-entry into the Earth’s Atmosphere. It is almost similar to the difficulties in Space Exploration of the Apollo Space Missions that used the Saturn Five (5) (“V”) Missile Rockets that exploded during the Space Exploration attempts that were performed by the Space Exploration Industry before 1980.

This is a great merit badge. For requirement #5a, I learned alot about the Apollo Number 17 Space Exploration which happened in 1972 from an old copy of a newspaper a science magazine. The Apollo Spacecraft Missions were really neat. Apollo Number 17 was the last of the Apollo Spacecraft Missions. Apollo Number 11 was the space exploration which actually put a spacecraft on the surface of the moon. Apollo Spacecraft Number 13 was a complete failure as the Saturn Five Rocket exploded on the launch site and took the lives of every astronaut who was aboard the Spacecraft. One of the Apollo Spacecraft explorations nearly didn’t return to earth by way of a correct angle of entry from space and nearly bounced off of the earth’s atmosphere and nearly traveled into deep unkown regions of space without returning to earth from its space orbit. This is a great merit badge.
