Soft-Shell Turtle Found
A giant soft-shell turtle has been discovered in northern Vietnam. Once thought to be extinct, researchers from Cleveland Metroparks Zoo made the find.
The Swinhoe’s soft-shell turtle is the largest freshwater turtle in the world. The reptile, which can weigh up to 300 pounds and measure up to three feet, has been known to live more than 100 years.
Three other Swinhoe’s live in captivity, but the species remains on the brink of extinction.
