Jackie Robinson Anniversary

jackierobinson.jpgOn April 15, 1947, Jackie Robinson slipped into a Brooklyn Dodgers uniform and broke the Major League Baseball “color line.” Robinson batted second, played first base and scored the go-ahead run, as the Dodgers beat the Boston Braves 5-3.

Robinson would go on to win Rookie of the Year in 1947. He also won the National League Most Valuable Player trophy in 1949 and led Brooklyn to a World Series title in 1955.

Today, many players and coaches around baseball will wear No. 42 in honor of Robinson.
