Mummified Dinosaur Uncovered

dino.jpgAn Edmontosaurus found on a North Dakota ranch is perfectly fossilized with skin and all. Scientists say this may be as close as we ever come to seeing what a real dinosaur looked like in the flesh.

Tyler Lyson, a paleontology student at Yale, discovered the fossil on his uncle’s ranch in 1999. When he started unearthing the fossil in 2004, he realized it was something special. Now, the mummified duckbilled dinosaur is in the basement of North Dakota’s state museum, as workers use tiny brushes and chisels to slowly chip away at the greenish rock surrounding the specimen.

The process of isolating the dinosaur should take one to two years, and then Lyson hopes to send it on a world tour.
